Infrared heating gives pilates classes a sunny disposition

Five Infrarad heaters are creating the ideal temperature at classes at the Love Pilates studio in Glasgow.

The infrared ‘Slimline Power Heaters’ work in a similar fashion as the sun, by producing rays of heat that radiate off objects within a building. This ongoing cycle generates further heat and subsequent rays to ensure an even and comfortable environment.

According to Love Pilates’ Karen Wood, infrared is “more conducive to mind and body” than convected heat. “Infrared heating is capable of filtering through the body to gently raise the core temperature and speed up the sweating process without the humidity of traditional heating systems,” she said.

The lightweight panels are situated on a wall or ceiling at a height no lower than 2,200mm and hardwired into a ring main. Universal installation brackets are supplied for all fittings options. Each unit comes with a 25 amp programmable thermostat, which can be set between 5°c and 35°c, and a handheld remote control.

The Infrarad heaters were supplied by independent plumbers’ merchant A & E Brown. Slimline Power Heaters are available with four outputs, 1,000w, 1,800w, 2,400w and 3,200w, and run on a standard 240v system.
